Description
The church at the center of all things is not the original. The first church was completely destroyed during a WWII air attack, April 1942.
As viewed from Birgu, the main focal point of Kalkara, its church, is set back...so deeply that it surprised me. The lights, boats, and trees all create a chaos of textures, lines, and shadows above which the brilliantly lit church looms. In a way, this shot sums up the trip and what I hoped to find when traveling to Malta.
