Artist's Description

One of the city's iconic bascule bridges dating all the way back to 1922, the Wells Street Bridge was completely rebuilt in 2013. It wasn't a cosmetic thing either. Both leaves were built off-site and floated in, while the counterweight sections were rebuilt in place. It disrupted Purple and Brown CTA trains, off and on, for months. What I like about it though is that it still has the same look and feel of the original ironwork... and offers great views upriver.
