Description
The town of Kalkara forms part of the inner harbor area and is believed to be one of the first areas inhabited by the early dwellers of Malta that came over from Sicily. The church at the center of all things is not the original. The first church was completely destroyed during a WWII air attack, April 1942.
As viewed from Birgu, the main focal point of Kalkara, it's church, is set back...so deeply that it surprised me. The lights, boats, and trees all create a chaos of textures, lines, and shadows above which the brilliantly lit church looms. In a way, this shot sums up the trip and what I hoped to find when traveling to Malta.
